Unimpressed with La Perla & Agent Provocateur

I hate lingerie snobs!  Especially ones that don't know the difference between buying in to a brand and real quality when they see it.

Before I started escorting I was blissfully unaware of these brands and where I am not really an Ann Summers fan, I had some very nice items of lingerie, but they were not these brands stated.  Since becoming an Escort I have come across some real brand snobbery and I'm about to tell you what I really think of these products.

La Perla -

I came across my first La Perla shop only yesterday while shopping at the outlet shop in Bicester.  I am looking for a new suspender belt, as my favourite is starting to look a little dog eared and the other ones I have are too big, since I have lost weight since buying them.  They had one plain black one (which is what I wanted) and it was tiny.  They do 3 sizes and I'm pretty sure their largest one is equivalent to a size 12.  I do wonder if this is to ensure that it will look nice on the wearer due to them being slim, rather than having to worry about looking good with curves.  This was being sold at £90 (remembering this is an outlet shop) and its only saving grace is that it did have metal suspenders, otherwise it looked no different to a Leg Avenue bet at £12.99.

They were selling bra's with no double sizes! Don't they know that most escorts are a DD?  I'm afraid I do conform to this, so was a little depressed that I couldn't take advantage of their sale.  They showed me a 38C which was flesh coloured and basic and I'm afraid I put my nose up in the air and flounced out of the shop.

Agent Provocateur -

The outlet also has an Agent Provocateur shop.  They do have larger sizes and I happily bought a bra and knicker set from them the last time I was there.  However, today while looking for the suspenders I was shocked when they brought out a bag of XL suspenders (I am between a 14/16 UK sizes).  They had one pair of black suspenders that quite frankly looked miniscule.  The lady was busy working between me and a few other customers, so I took the opportunity to look through the other suspender belts.  I picked out 3 and put them against each other.  There was approx an inch and a half more width between the ones offered me and another pair and an inch between mine and another pair.  Basically they were all different. It got me wondering where they were getting their stock from, as there can't be an Agent Provocateur sweat shop some where, where they have standards and conform to size control.  If I had picked up the one belt, I'd have left thinking I had lost weight, where another made me feel fat!  Why can't they get it right?

I'm also quite shocked as to why anyone would buy their corsets when they have plastic bones.  I mean surely if you are going to invest £150+ on a corset, you want it to be made by a real corsetier and have metal bones?  All my corsets are made by Heresy and are amazing.  I look at the quality next to the ones in this shop and there is no comparison and yet if I bought one from here, you gents would seemingly be impressed?  It would give me kudos?  How pathetic is that?

Lastly, durability.  I put my wonder bra in the wash with the rest of the washing and it comes out good to go.  I put my Agent Provcateur bra and knickers in a delicate wash and it comes out faded and looking old and rubbish.  Ok, so it says hand wash only on the directions for washing, but does hand washing really clean as well as you need for something that is so close to your intimate parts?  Especially when I keep getting made wet in them lol.  Again, this brand is not living up to expectation for me.

I have obviously considered conforming to the ideology, or I wouldn't have even entered these shops, but I'm afraid I remain unimpressed and will not consider buying them again.  They are made with cheap materials and designed for ladies with model figures that would make a plastic bag look good on them.  It is not about the quality or design, but about the brand.

If you want to see real quality, let me show you one of my corsets, or even my La Senza underwear.  It might not have the same hype, but the quality and workmanship is a damn site better!

  1. Thank god you said that. I have just sent my favourite lady some La Senza gift vouchers, despite being very confused over which brand was the one to have. If you'd said they were rubbish I'd have to sulk :o)
